A bunch of everything

Yes, I am still here but find I mainly have been using the blog as a place to go to look at all the other blogs I look at. Anyhoo, we are still alive. Here is a little update. Sarah is growing, growing, growing. Last time she was weighed she was 12 pounds, and I'm sure she is closer to 13 now. She is really smiley and will crack a smile for Abby anytime. Both Matthew and Abby are still liking school. Matthew told me that he likes school more than being at home! Not sure how I feel about that!

It was a little more difficult to take pictures of Sarah now than it was when she was 2 weeks old. Now she moves more and isn't sleeping the whole time like she did then. I did manage to get a few though and may try again when Todd can be home to get her to smile.

For Christmas this year we went to my mom and dad's on Christmas Eve and stayed over till Chrsitmas morning. We opened our stalkings had breakfast and then headed to Todd's mom and dad's. When we got there we had the usual Lasagna Christmas meal and then opened presents. Here are a few shots from both places.

The other day the kids and I were driving somewhere and Matthew guilted me into taking them sledding! He asked me "mom, how come you never want me to be active? Me, "what do you mean buddy?" Matthew, "Well, you always have jobs for us to do instead of doing active things like sledding." Seriously?!?!? So of course I felt bad and took them sledding, after all I wouldn't want to contribute to childhood obesity by making my kids help out around the house and stuff!!!!

1st Day of Kindergarten!

Well the day has come and gone where I had to take my little baby boy to kindergarten! Yep, Matthew started school yesterday.

He seemed pretty excited as he was getting ready yesterday morning. He even had to cheer Abby up a little as she got kind of sad when she realized he wouldn't be here with her all day. Whatever he said seemed to work.  We drove to the school and Abby and I walked Matthew to his classroom.

We stopped for a picture right outside of his room. Then we went in and got all checked in with his teacher, and she made sure I was the one that was going to be picking him up that day.

He got his pencil box out of his backpack and hung that up in his spot.

Then he found his spot at the table and the teacher had a picture they could color while they waited for the day to start. We also took a picture with his teacher. I didn't realize till I got home that Matthew had weird eyes in the picture, but oh well.

I asked Matthew that morning what kind of special snack he wanted when he got home from school and first he said nothing then he thought chocolate chip cookies sounded good. Abby and I had to those all ready when he got home. When I picked him up from school he looked as though he was ready to cry. I asked what was wrong and he said he had a headache. I think he gets them when he is very tired. Then I questioned him more while he was eating his cookies. He seemed to like the actual school part of the day, but other parts such as lunch and recess didn't sound to good. He claims he didn't have a sandwich in his lunch bag. I know that I made on and put it in there so we are thinking that it slid out when he unzipped the bag or something. Then he said he just played by himself at recess and started to cry when he was telling me this. We are pretty sure that he was just extremely overwhelmed by the amount of kids out at recess and didn't really know what to do with that many kids. Usually when we go to parks and such he has no problem asking kids to play and stuff so that was really strange. He is very excited about doing math and playing on the computer, which I think from what he told me they do the math on the computer also. He also sounded a little excited about music class, but was wanting to play the bongos! All in all I think he was very overwhelmed and completely exhausted by the end of the day. We talked about trying to ask someone to play at  recess while getting ready this morning and he agreed to try and ask someone. He still seemed excited about going back this morning so I guess that's something.

Fishing and Football

A few weeks ago we all went fishing with my mom and dad.

Abby's fishing rod broke so I took some of the line off and tied it to the side of the boat for her. It worked so good that she still caught fish with it!

Mom had the idea to bring some latex gloves with for Matthew so he would put his own worms on and it worked! It may take him 5 minutes to put a worm on, but he does it now. (With gloves, of course)

I had read about this on day football camp that Phil Hanson puts on for kids and it was going to be in Fargo so I took Matthew. Lets just say he Loved it!

Mini vacation and T-Ball

Last weekend Todd and I went on a very mini vacation with some friends of ours. The grandparents watched the kids for us so we could go by ourselves which was nice, but it was also nice to see them again too! We went to the Blackhills of South Dakota.

So here is a quick update on our life in the past couple weeks.

First over Memorial weekend went took our annual trip to the Black Hills. As usual it was fun.

Then the week we got back from our trip we started VBS and also ended getting Matthew into a FREE soccer camp, which he LOVED!

His favorite position was being the goalie. he had never played before and he did pretty good considering this fact.
We also discovered that he is a little ball hog! The coach informed us that all 5 year olds are ball hogs though!

Then we had the Nelson family reunion a week or two ago.

It was at a farm a few miles from Mayville. Matthew had fun playing baseball all day with anyone that was willing!

Then we had Todd's 30th Birthday last week and Fathers day this weekend! The kids and I took Todd out shooting and Geocaching for Fathers Day and then to my mom and dads for supper!

The kids had fun on the tire swing at Grandma's and then matthew decided that Him, Uncle Luke and Daddy should have a race. I"ll let you guess who won!

Mother's Day Weekend

Usually on Mother's Day I go to a Flower Nursery with my mom and grandma. This year we decided to go on Saturday instead. I took the kids with also, because Todd was working for half the day.

Matthew likes to pull the wagons around with the flowers in them, and Abby likes to ride in them.

Abby checking out some flowers for us.

Matthew being his usual weird self. I'm sure this will only get worse once he starts kindergarten next year. Abyy showing me the flowers she picked out for me for Mother's Day. I think she actually wants to give them to Grandma Wanda though. So we shall see how that pans out!

Then on Mother's Day we went to church and we had nursery duty for both Sunday School and the service. Usually we only do the Sunday School hour, and I was reminded why. To many screaming babys at one time! Anyways, after that we headed out to meet Uncle Luke and go fishing and shooting by a river near him. It was Matthew and Todd that wanted to do the Fishing/shooting and I wanted to be with to take pictures of Matthew and Uncle Luke fishing. Turned out to be a pretty nice fun day!

The kids had fun trying to catch fish. The both caught at least one, so that was great!

                                                                 Even I caught a fish!

Abby really turned into a Tom Girl yesterday! She really liked the fishing and also helping Grandpa Joe with his arrows and walking in the woods with Daddy!

Here is a small look at what we have been up to the last few weeks. First, we found out that we are going to be having another little girl! All I can say is Lord help us!!! Matthew was glad for a girl and Abby was hoping for a boy. We are all excited.

The other night we were outside and Matthew decided that he wanted to try riding his bike without training wheels. We said ok, and off he went. The next day he was literally riding in circles around `us. Pretty exciting to watch!

A few weeks ago everyone got haircuts but me. I realized I didn't have any pictures of this and decided we needed some.

I cut about two inches off of Abby's hair in hopes that it would help with snarls. I think it worked, and you really don't even notice I cut that much off.

Lastly, Todd took the kids to the zoo a few weeks ago when it was FREE! Free is the only time we go. The kids had fun feeding the animals and telling me about the horse named sassy!
